Quite Contrary
Иногда (хотя, пожалуй, все-таки довольно часто
) в английской речи мне встречается выражение, явно устойчивое, и его смысл далеко не всегда ясен. И в большинстве случаев я просто тут же его забываю. Но иногда оно попадает куда-то в ту область подкорки, которая лично у меня забита всяким хламом, и живет там набором звуков
Так было с фразой "Gotta feed the monkey". И с "No man is an island".
Не знаю, может, я какой-то фрик, но мне безумно интересно искать, откуда эти фразы появились (или хотя бы, что они означают). И еще я очень жалею, что с филологической точки зрения я совершенно безграмотна, потому что не знаю ничего из найденного.
